Where Folevi is different

Lower prices, and a free plan without a note limit

Folevi’s paid plans are $1.99, $4.99 and $12.99 a month, or $19, $49 and $149 a year. The Free plan has no limit on the number of notes or folders; it has 1 GB of storage and works on 2 devices.

A plan with no AI

Core costs $1.99 a month or $19 a year and has no AI at all. The server refuses every AI request in a Core space, so nothing there is sent to an AI model. It’s for people and teams who want notes without AI and don’t want to pay for it. More in why Folevi has a plan with no AI.

AI counted in credits

One AI credit is one cent of what the AI costs Folevi to run. Rewriting a paragraph uses about 1 credit, a question to Foli about 2 and a flowchart 3 to 5. Settings shows what’s left this month and when it resets. See what an AI credit is.

Block documents and linked pages

A Folevi page is made of blocks: headings, to-dos, tables, callouts, flowcharts, whiteboards and more, which you add with the slash menu. Link pages with [[ and nest pages inside pages. See blocks and slash commands.

Note themes with artwork

Each page can take one of 57 artwork themes, or your own image, and the theme colours the cover, the paper and the text. The app around it stays plain white, or near-black in dark mode. See note themes.

Where Evernote may suit you better

You clip the web and scan paper

Evernote has a web clipper for pages, articles and PDFs, and scans documents and business cards. Folevi has neither.

You need apps on your phone

Evernote has apps for iOS and Android as well as the web, Mac and Windows. Folevi runs in the browser today. The Mac app is coming soon, and there is no iPhone, iPad, Android or Windows app yet. You can install the web app from your browser so it opens in its own window.

You connect notes to other tools

Evernote lists integrations with Google (Gmail, Drive and Calendar) and Outlook on every plan, and Slack on Advanced and Enterprise. Folevi has no integrations today.

You transcribe recordings

Evernote lists AI Transcribe, for audio and video, on every plan. Folevi has no transcription.

Switching from Evernote

Evernote exports ENEX, HTML and PDF from its desktop apps. Folevi imports Markdown and plain text only, so Evernote notes need converting to Markdown first. Two tools from other companies do that: Obsidian’s free Importer plugin reads ENEX files and writes Markdown, and Apple Notes on a Mac imports ENEX and exports Markdown. Then:

  1. In Folevi, open Settings → Import & export and choose the Markdown files, the folder or a ZIP of them.
  2. Folevi imports up to 50 documents at a time and lists anything it couldn’t bring across. The new pages land in Drafts, where you can file them.

The details are in Import and export, and moving your notes into Folevi explains what comes across.

Questions

Is Folevi an Evernote alternative?
For notes, tasks and documents on the web, yes. Folevi doesn’t have Evernote’s web clipper, document scanning, phone apps or integrations.
Can I import my Evernote notes?
Not directly. Folevi imports Markdown and text, and Evernote exports ENEX, HTML and PDF. Convert the ENEX file to Markdown first, for example with Obsidian’s Importer plugin or Apple Notes on a Mac, then import the Markdown.
Does the Folevi Free plan limit notes?
No. Free has no limit on notes or folders. It has 1 GB of storage, 25 AI credits a month and works on 2 devices.
Does Folevi have mobile apps?
Not yet. Folevi runs in the browser, and the Mac app is coming soon. There is no iOS or Android app yet.
Does Folevi work offline?
Yes, in the browser. Every edit is saved on your device first and syncs when you reconnect.
